Our Tijuana Dental Lab
One of the advantages of our clinic is the fact that we have our very own dental lab. None of our competitors can say this. The reason that the other clinics don't have their own dental lab, is because it would not be cost effective to have a fully equipped lab unless they were a huge operation. The cost of all the special, and modern equipment is too high to justify the investment with the volume of work in an average dental clinic.However, we DO have a very large dental lab with all the latest technology. This is due to the fact that we service, not only our own Tijuana dental clinic, but regularly make the crowns and prosthetic devices for over 60 different dental clinics in Tijuana. Our dental lab business was started first, over 25 years ago, and then the owner of the lab bought his own dental equipment, and brought in Dr. Rivera, to start Dental Art. Since we have our own dental lab, it gives us the advantage that our work takes priority over work sent in from other clinics. We can get things done faster and can also control the quality better than other Tijuana dentists.
How can we have better quality control? Since the owner of our dental clinic also owns our Tijuana dental lab, he knows more precisely what a proper preparation should be for dental crowns, implants, etc. Sometimes other dentists from other clinics get sloppy, and don't prep things properly. When the lab calls their attention to the fact that they need to modify something, the outside dentist will often not want to make those changes, and insists that the lab just work around it. The result is that the dental work can't be made with the needed precision. We can't force the dentists from another clinics to do it right. But that is not the case with our dental clinic, Since the "boss" owns the lab, our dentists cannot try to cut corners, and do sloppy work. He CAN make our dentists do it right, if they want to keep working for us. Also, as our lab owner is a very highly trained professional, we have the additional advantage that he can show our dentists how to do specialty preparations for many types of treatments that are not commonly used, such as Maryland bridges, and telescopic dentures. There is nothing that our lab cannot make.
Another thing we have is the latest technology for making the zirconium crowns. Our dental lab is only one of two labs in Tijuana that can make the computer aided design crowns. We have a three dimensional laser scanner to scan the molds of the teeth, and a diamond bladed milling machine run with a cad/am program on the computer, to cut the crowns. Our machine can cut up to 60 crowns at a time, so that we can do many large orders and can keep up with the demand for the highest quality crowns.
